Senseless Loss of Life and Injury Should Not Become The Norm

Population density, loss of agricultural land and cultural change have contributed to a dangerous consequence for Colorado horses and residents who still make a living and recreate via horseback.

Colorado Safe Horse is an initiative to provide high visibility horse and rider wear with advocacy for safer outcomes for all users of roads and trails in Colorado. Senseless, painful loss of life and injury should not become the norm because of distracted driving, carelessness or unawareness of state law and park policy.

Objective 1 is tactical, providing high visibility horse and rider wear so that trail and road users know the horse and rider are present and have the right of way. Ten percent of each horse and rider wear sale on this site is donated to the Arvada Horseman’s Association, the location where the December 2, 2023 tragedy occurred. If you have a non profit you prefer to benefit please contact us so we can make that happen. This is all about safety for you and your horse.

Arvada has a big lift to enact zoning laws to reduce the pressure of overdevelopment and lack of safety for pedestrians and horse riders alike. We hope it will be a model for other Colorado communities to emulate.

Objective 2 is educational, aggregating information and education resources for riders and owners to speak up to their local communities, state and national legislators and provide timely safety information for trail and road best practices.

Objective 3 identifies the many organizations that advocate for the horse in our state. Each have an important role to play in furthering the safety of the horse and rider. Get involved with them.

We hope that putting this information in one place will be useful not only to Coloradans but helpful to other horse owners in other states - particularly if they are visiting our state to trail ride.

OUR ULTIMATE GOAL IS SAFE HORSES & RIDERS

They shouldn’t have to be injured or die on the road or on the trail.
